About Centsible

Our mission, our standards, and how we keep the lights on.

Centsible was created on a simple belief: managing money should not require a finance degree, a subscription to a paywalled newsletter, or hours of decoding jargon. Most people don't need more financial products pushed at them — they need a clear explanation of the choices in front of them so they can decide with confidence.

We write about the money decisions ordinary Americans actually face: choosing a first credit card, getting out from under high-interest debt, building an emergency fund when budgets are tight, opening a savings account that actually pays interest, and taking the first small steps into investing. Every guide is written in plain English, organized so you can find the answer fast, and updated as rates, rules, and products change.

What we stand for

We try to be the resource we wish we'd had when we were figuring this out ourselves. That means three commitments:

Our editorial standards

Articles are researched using primary sources wherever possible — the published terms of financial products, federal consumer-protection resources, and official guidance from regulators such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the IRS. When numbers change frequently (interest rates, contribution limits, fees), we note that they move and encourage you to confirm current figures directly with the provider before acting. We review and refresh our most-read guides on a regular schedule.

How Centsible makes money

Centsible is free to read. To keep it that way, the site is supported by advertising displayed through third-party advertising networks. When you see an ad, an advertiser — not you — pays for that placement. Advertising revenue lets us keep producing in-depth guides without putting them behind a paywall. The presence of advertising never changes our editorial conclusions, and ads are clearly labeled as advertisements so they're easy to distinguish from our writing.

What we are not

Centsible is a publisher of general educational content. We are not a bank, a lender, a broker-dealer, an investment adviser, a tax preparer, or a law firm, and nothing on this site is personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Your situation is unique; for decisions that matter, please consult a qualified, licensed professional. See our full disclaimer for details.
